ABOUT

Kansas City native, Debbie Dusenberry, opened her first boutique, Curious Sofa in September of 2000. The shop specialized in vintage items, slipcovered furniture, and decorative objects. With a love for curating products and an unorthodox way of display, Debbie led Curious Sofa to became one of the nation's top independent boutiques and a destination shop for customers from across the country.
.
For ten successful years, both Curious Sofa and Debbie's home were featured in many national, trade and local publications (see the press page) which led to a strong following on the shop's website, blog and Facebook page.
.
In January of 2011, Debbie closed her store to focus on online sales through the Curious Sofa website. In July of 2018, Debbie decided to put  Curious Sofa to rest and switch things up to another brand idea, Tobacco Road.

Tobacco Road is about all the rustic, cowboy, boho, and slow style that we love. From Texas to Morocco you'll find vintage and uncommon objects for men and women. This line includes home items, clothing, boots, textiles, jewelry and more.
.
When she isn’t hunting for original goods at various antique shows across the country, Debbie spends her time managing the online store, design consulting, styling, and selling as Tobacco Road during First Friday weekends at Urban Mining in Kansas City. Come see what's new every First Friday weekend at Urban Mining. Open Thursday 5-9 pm., Friday 9-9, Saturday 9-6, Sunday 12-5.

Dear Customer,
Every piece of merchandise on this website has been handpicked by me for its vintage appeal. Many items are antique or vintage and are therefore one of a kind (and sell fast!). Other items may be market finds that are great reproductions, more affordable and mix well with vintage decorating. I also have new and old jewelry — a little bling to keep us decorated too.
-
My mission is to find unique items, whether new or old, that appeal to decorating with vintage style. Sometimes feminine, sometimes masculine; a little country and a little industrial; whatever has a great design. You'll notice I have a love for neutral coloring. I believe building your surroundings around no-color furnishings is not only soothing but also timeless and allows you to add colorful accents as you desire.
-

I hope you find a little something for you or a friend, and please sign up to receive my emails letting you know when new vintage items have been posted.  Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy!     - Deb
